“Sustainability is absolutely critical in terms of advisory and board work,” said Cleopatra Kitti, Founder, The Mediterranean Growth Initiative. “We’re at an important juncture in Europe and the US, where we really need businesses to rethink how they deliver shareholder value in the longer term. There is no shareholder value without stakeholder value”.

She chose to embark on the INSEAD Business Sustainability Programme as it represented an opportunity to understand the fundamentals of business sustainability; to “remove the noise,” and dig deep into the spaces where climate, geo-economics, regulation, business and capital markets interact—to really get to grips with the strategic imperative of sustainability.

For Michelle, listening to customers remains the “beginning of everything.” Listening, she says, is the key to driving understanding, and from there, building relationships based on continuous improvement. Yet, the greatest insight gleaned during the INSEAD programme she participated in is the need for digital ears and the breakthrough notion of “the power of outside in.”
