“Sustainability is absolutely critical in terms of advisory and board work,” said Cleopatra Kitti, Founder, The Mediterranean Growth Initiative. “We’re at an important juncture in Europe and the US, where we really need businesses to rethink how they deliver shareholder value in the longer term. There is no shareholder value without stakeholder value”.

She chose to embark on the INSEAD Business Sustainability Programme as it represented an opportunity to understand the fundamentals of business sustainability; to “remove the noise,” and dig deep into the spaces where climate, geo-economics, regulation, business and capital markets interact—to really get to grips with the strategic imperative of sustainability.

Finance for Executives Programme: Finding Value Beyond the Balance Sheet

In his role as MD, Alessandro spends much of his time dealing with matters of financial importance, from project financing to managing customer risk and debt. And, while the subject of finance was not entirely foreign to Alessandro, having had to deal with P&L statements and project evaluations previously, the topic of corporate finance was something that he could not admit to being fully conversant in. For a busy executive like Alessandro, he really appreciated the format of the Finance for Executives programme (FFE). In just seven days, participants came away with a working knowledge of finance that they could immediately apply to their role and the business they represented. “With my newfound knowledge, I am now better able to take ownership, especially in the area of corporate finance. Whether it’s talking to the board or customers, I am able to speak with more authority. Entrepreneurship: New Business Ventures programme – Having the Courage To Help Change the Jewellery Industry

Thelma West designs fine jewellery. Her pieces showcase diamonds and jewels that are carefully sourced for their ethical provenance. Some of the biggest stars in the world, Zendaya is a fan, and Rihanna was snapped wearing the Thelma West Rebel Black diamond ring during the 2021 Met Gala. With her business experiencing meteoric growth and international expansion, West was at an inflection point in 2022.
“I wanted to connect with new minds, and with minds outside of the ‘safe space’ of my own industry to challenge my thinking. And I wanted to do this in a way that was quick but intensive and really transformative,” said West.
The INSEAD Entrepreneurship: New Business Ventures (EBV) programme spoke both to where she was and what she needed.

Entrepreneurship: New Business Ventures programme – Stepping Out with Eyes Wide Open

As the co-founder and CEO of impactvise AG, Adrian Peyer has a vision to help law firms across the globe become more sustainable in their business practices, and to help them align to global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards.

In preparing for his new start-up, Adrian embarked on INSEAD’s Entrepreneurship: New Business Ventures (EBV) programme that catered to people at different stages of the start-up journey in 2021.

“Our lecturer, Professor Henning Piezunka, taught us to challenge our own ideas, and one of the exercises was to pitch a business idea to actual investors. It was like a dry run for our own business – this was a good practice in a safe environment for what we would actually need to do, and certainly not an opportunity that comes by easily.”

Today, right out of the programme, Adrian has already been able to transfer his learnings to benefit impactvise.
